All I can say is that I sure hope I'm not too late to catch on to the Super Paper Mario fanart-truck. I felt like I needed to make something to satisfy my new obsession, and the style was very agreeable. Thick outlines. Cell and gradient shading. Simple outlines.
I suggest that all Wii owners get this game if they already hadn't. It's beautiful beyond belief, if you know how to appreciate the simple style, the music, the presentation, the characterization, and the story line.
So, here is Lord Blumiere and Lady Timpani from Super Paper Mario. Although I designed everything in the picture, the style, the characters, and the wonderful story belongs to Nintendo.
Timpani was an interesting character to design. I used only Peach as a reference. Initially, I never wanted to make the big dress. However, the name "Timpani" refers to a type of drum. Which explains the largeness of her dress. And, I never meant to make the triangles look like the Triforce. The triangles on Timpani's dress are supposedly pieces of the pixl butterfly. But, triangles just so happen to look good that way. As for Lord Blumiere, I just stuck to the original Bleck color palette, and just changed his clothes. Gave him "hair". Made his jewel clasp more snazzy.
.......... .......... .......... ... I'll admit. I am a little proud of this piece, even though there are two billion things wrong with it.
EDIT: Wow, so many sweet comments! Thankyouthankyouthankyou!
I promise you, I've read them all, but I have so many to reply to. But just let you guys know all your comments have not landed before blind eyes.
Now you guys are going to make me blush till my head explodes. Thanks.
You SHOULD be proud. This is the best fanart I've seen of them EVER. Your Timpani was almost EXACTLY how I pictured her human form. Only diff is that I pictured her with the pixl butterfly as her crown, and wavier hair. But same color palette. I'm thinking about doing some art of them myself.
And Blumiere's "hair" is fucking PERFECT. My GOD this is an adorable picture. I mistook it for official nintendo art at first (saw it posted over on tumblr, thought someone nabbed it from nintendo), so BE PROUD. -clap clap-

I love it to pieces.
